Project Description

The CeramiCO2 project is a collaborative initiative between Net4CO2 and CTCV that aims to accelerate the green transition and carbon neutrality in companies in the Ceramics Sector. A sector highly energy-intensive due to the processes inherent to extraction and production, therefore facing significant challenges in reducing emissions associated with raw material extraction and manufacturing processes.

The project aims to support the ceramics companies in adopting technological and organisational solutions to improve energy efficiency, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote more sustainable production models. Covering the entire ceramic value chain, CeramiCO2 promotes the dissemination of best practices, technical capacity building, the assessment of the technical and economic feasibility of solutions, and the transfer of knowledge and technology to industry.

Main Outcomes

  • Identification of technological solutions to promote decarbonisation in the ceramics sector: Develoment of a digital technological portefolio of low-carbon and energy-efficient solutions, that will include the assessment of the technical maturity, feasibility and economic viability of these solutions, the development of subsector-specific study-cases, to identify major energy consumption sources and suitable decarbonisation measures.
  • Development of a CO2 Clinic: Through the CO2 Technology Clinics, companies will gain access to energy and emissions diagnostics, tailored recommendations, technical expertise and capacity-building activities to facilitate the adoption of effective technologies and organisational practices.
  • Company capacity building and engagement: Deliver workshops, seminars, practical demonstrations and technology challenges to promote knowledge transfer and capacity-building activities to support the adoption of low-carbon technologies and improve environmental and energy performance.
